Salgado Investigations was founded by Jorge Salgado in early 2006, the company is based in Croydon South London. I asked Jorge how he first got into the world of private investigation. He informed me, he was a bit of a rebel in his younger days, he started off his working life with a short stint at his local Cinema. This was followed by finding work as a security guard; Jorge quickly found his feet in this line of work and progressed to become a store detective. Jorge continued to distinguish himself from his peers and moved up the chain to becoming a retail undercover investigator at Heathrow Airport and later was appointed as the security manager at WH Smiths. In 2006 Jorge decided it was time to take a gamble, this led to him setting up his own private detective agency. It is normal for people to struggle when they first set up their own business, Jorge was no exception. In the first 6 months he found it very difficult to source a steady stream of clients. From late 2006 however things started to improve as clients started to appear on a more regular basis. Jorge is passionate about his work; he continually strives to improve his own personal knowledge base as well as developing his website. He views this as crucial, especially in light of new licensing legislation that is expected to be introduced within the next 12 months. His clients are obviously happy with the level of service as he receives many referrals and recommendations. Salgado Investigations offer an array of services, these include • Process Servers • Tracing Agents & People Finders • Loss Prevention Investigators • Matrimonial & Infidelity Surveillance • Insurance & Personal Injury Detectives • Computer Forensics Unit - CFU Jorge spends a lot of time networking with other small business owners at 4Networking, what I personally like is Jorge puts a lot of time into this networking group however due to the nature of his work, it seldom results in him sourcing clients, this is testament to his true character. I wish Jorge all the best for the future, I am aware he has some interesting ideas for his companies’ development and improvement. I am sure his hard working ethos and determined attitude will serve him well in positioning his business at the forefront of the UK’s private investigation sector.

Cool uniforms are suited for hot weather
No matter how hot and humid it may get, workers can keep their cool by wearing work clothing made with the latest scientifically treated fabrics designed to more evenly regulate their body temperatures on a year-round basis. "These uniforms are made with fabrics that literally wick perspiration away from the skin so moisture evaporates quickly," says Robert Isaacson, Director of Marketing for UniFirst Corporation, a leading supplier of uniforms and work apparel throughout the U. S. and Canada. "And that's a critical factor when it comes to feeling cooler in hotter weather, as perspiration trapped on the skin suppresses its ability to 'breathe,' making workers feel hotter." Isaacson points out that those same comfort features continue even when outside thermometers dip. "When these same fabrics are worn during colder weather, they also wick 'chilly' moisture away, which helps their wearers remain warm." Major uniform suppliers and manufacturers, such as UniFirst, have countless options when choosing fabrics to meet the garment needs of today's workforce. But specially treated polyesters, used in combination with cotton, have become the preferred choice for tens of millions of uniform wearers because of the overall comfort features and the on-the-job durability they provide. "Many polyesters are now made from microfibers that are 'spun' for a softer touch," Isaacson says. "So when you combine spun polyester with cotton, you take clothing's softness level up a notch. Add in the special wicking treatments and polyester's ability to resist wrinkling, soiling and abrasions, and you truly have one of the 'coolest' summertime uniforms or, for that matter, one of the 'hottest' ones you can find during colder weather."

Blowers
: MECHANICAL VACUUM BOOSTERS:- Mechanical Vacuum Boosters are dry pumps that meet most of the ideal vacuum pump requirements. They work on positive displacement principle and are used to boost the performance of water ring /oil ring /rotating vane /piston pumps and steam or water ejectors. They are used in combination with any one of the above mentioned pumps, to overcome their limitations. Vacuum booster pumps offer very desirable characteristics which make them the most cost effective and power efficient option. The major advantages are:- (a) Can be integrated with any installed vacuum system such as Steam Ejectors, Water Ring Pumps, Oil Sealed Pumps, Water Ejectors, etc. (b) The vacuum booster is a Dry Pump as it does not use any pumping fluid. It pumps vapor or gases with equal ease. Small amounts of condensed fluid can also be pumped. (c) Vacuum boosters are power efficient. Very often a combination of Vacuum Booster and suitable backup pump results in reduced power consumption per unit of pumping speed. They provide high pumping speeds even at low pressures. (d) Boosters increase the working vacuum of the process, in most cases very essential for process performance and efficiency. Vacuum Booster can be used over a wide working pressure range, from 100 Torr down to 0.001 Torr (mm of mercury), with suitable arrangement of backup pumps. Everest ...................... Leaders in Vacuum Booster Technology Boosters for Vacuum Process © Everest Transmission January, 2005. (e) It has very low pump friction losses, hence requires relatively low power for high volumetric speeds. Typically, their speeds, at low vacuums are 20-30 times higher than corresponding vane pumps / ring pumps of equivalent power. (f) Use of electronic control devices such as Variable Frequency Control Drive allow to modify vacuum boosters operating characteristics to conform to the operational requirements of the prime vacuum pumps. Hence they can be easily integrated into all existing pumping set up to boost their performance. (g) Vacuum boosters don't have any valves, rings, stuffing box etc., therefore, do not demand regular maintenance. (h) Due to vapor compression action by the booster, the pressure at the discharge of booster (or inlet of backup pump) is maintained high, resulting in advantages such as low back streaming of prime pump fluid, effective condensation even at higher condenser temperatures and improvement of the backup pump efficiency. The Table below gives a rough estimate of how the boosters enhance the working vacuums of the processes when installed in combination with various types of industrial vacuum pumps currently used in the industry. They can effectively replace multistage steam ejectors, resulting in considerable steam savings and reduced loads on cooling towers. Mechanical Vacuum Boosters are versatile machines and their characteristics depend largely on backing pump. Various types of backing pump can be used, depending upon the system requirement and ultimate vacuum needs. However, the final vacuum is governed by the suitable selection of the backing pump and booster arrangement. The table below gives a broad range of vacuum achieved with various backing pumps combinations. Vacuum Pump Expected vacuum Vacuum on installation Range of Booster (single stage) Single Stage Ejector 150 Torr 15 - 30 Torr Water Ejector 100 Torr 10 - 20 Torr Water Ring Pump 40 - 60 Torr 5 - 10 Torr Liquid Ring Pump 20 - 30 Torr 2 - 5 Torr Piston Pumps 20 - 30 Torr 2 - 5 Torr Rotary Piston Pumps 0.1 Torr 0.01 Torr Rotary Vane Oil Pump 0.01 - 0.001 Torr 0.001 - 0.0001 Torr. Everest ................ Leaders in Vacuum Booster Technology Boosters for Vacuum Process © Everest Transmission January, 2005. For example, if a process is using water ring Pump, the estimated working vacuums would be of the order of about 670-710 mmHg gauge (90-50 mmHg abs.), largely depending on the water temperature and pump design. When a Booster is installed prior to the water ring pump, in series, the vacuum levels of the order of 5-10 Torr can be easily achieved. In a Multi-Stage booster installation, vacuum levels of the order of 0.5 Torr & better can easily be expected. Mechanical Boosters offer a completely dry pumping solution and do not add to any vapor load, unlike steam ejectors, and therefore, do not require large inter stage condenses. At low vacuums, higher pumping speeds are required to maintain the through-put, since the specific volume increases with the increase in vacuum. Vacuum boosters enhance the pumping speeds by about 3-10 times depending upon the selection by virtue of which one can expect higher process rates and through-puts. The drawbacks of steam ejector system such as sensitivity to motive fluid pressures and discharge pressure are overcome easily by the Mechanical Boosters, since the volumetric displacements/pumping speeds are insensitive to the inlet & outlet working pressures. Typical Booster Installation (1) Evaporator (2) Gauge (3) Condenser (4) Mechanical Booster (5) backup Pump Everest ................. Leaders in Vacuum Booster Technology Boosters for Vacuum Process © Everest Transmission January, 2005. Calculating the Pump Capacity: - Based on the fundamental gas laws PV= RT, an expression can be derived for Volumetric Flow Rates required for pumping different vapors/gases. Based on the Mass flow rates one can estimate the pump capacity required. V = R . Tgas / P Q1/M1 + Q2/M2 ............. Qn/Mn Where V = Inlet Volume flow rate m3/hr. R = Universal gas Constant, 83.14 mbar m3/ Kgmol x єK Tgas = Gas/Vapor abs. Temp, in єK P = Process Absolute Pressure in mbar Q1, Q2, Q3 = Gas / Vapor flow rate, in Kg/hr. M1 , M2,M3 = Molar mass, in Kg/mol. of gas /vapor. Booster Operation: Power Constraints restrict the total differential pressures across the booster. This demands to ensure the total differential pressure across the Booster must not exceed the rated limits. This can be ensured by any of the following means:- 1.) Manual method:- Initially the fore pump is switched on until the required cut in pressure is achieved and there-after the booster is switched on. 2.) Auto method:- Installation of mechanical By-pass arrangement across the booster or hydro kinematic drive or Variable Frequency Drive (VFD). In this arrangement, the booster and fore pump can be started simultaneously from atmosphere. Advantages of using Electronic Variable Speed Control Device Electronic A. C Variable Frequency Control Drives are most preferred devices used to regulate the Booster speed to match the varying load conditions of the process. These drives enhance the overall performance of the Boosters and offer various advantages for the trouble free operation. The major advantages are: - 1. Booster can be started directly from atmosphere. Everest ................... Leaders in Vacuum Booster Technology Boosters for Vacuum Process © Everest Transmission January, 2005. 2. No need for separate pressure switch, by pass line or offloading valves. 3. Considerable savings in power. 4. Prevents over-heating of Boosters. 5. Protects the Booster against overload and excessive pressures. 6. Offers complete protection to motor against over voltage, under voltage, over current, Over-heating, ground fault. 7. Eliminates the needs of separate starter and overload relays for the Motor. 8. Automatically adjusts the speed of Booster between low and high range set giving high pumping speeds with relatively low input power. The Electronic Variable Frequency Control Drive is a microprocessor based electronic drive which is specially programmed to meet the demands of the Booster allowing it to operate directly from atmosphere along with suitable fore pump. Conventionally, Boosters can be started only after achieving fore vacuum in the range of 30 - 100 Torr, as they are not recommended for direct discharge into the atmosphere. Use of Pressure Switch, Hydro kinematic drive and by pass valves is necessary to prevent the overloading of the Booster. However with the installation of Electronic Variable Frequency Control Drive all the conventional methods can be bypassed since the drive is programmed to regulate the Booster speed automatically, keeping the load on motor within permissible limits. This allows the Booster to start simultaneously with backup pump. When the backup-pump and Booster are started the drive reduces the Booster speed to the pre-set levels and as the vacuum is created the Booster speed picks up, reaching the final pre-set speed, giving most optimum performance over the entire range. Since all the parameters are easily programmable, one can adjust the booster pumping speeds to match the system requirements easily and quickly. The drive limits the current to the motor and safeguards the motor against over voltage, under voltage, electronic thermal, overheat ground faults. i. e. protects the motor against all possible faults. External computer control over all aspects of booster performance is possible via RS485 serial interface built into the drive electronics. This enables the Booster to be integrated into any computer-controlled operating system. To know more about this site visit this site: everestblowers

Looking for a business opportunity choose one with a built in market
There has never been a better time to find a home-based business opportunity. In fact, there are so many business opportunities that it's often difficult to decide which one is the right fit for you. Here are five tips for finding a home-based business opportunity that will meet your needs and that will help you succeed. 1. Fuel Your Passion. It's rare to find a person who can sell a product or service he doesn't believe in. Even for those who can, it's hard to imagine that they enjoy what they do and look forward to their work each day. For most of us, a critical element of the right business opportunity is finding a product or service we believe in. For example, you may be concerned about the environment and about global warming. If so, a business opportunity that involves a product that helps people save gas, allows cars to get higher MPG, and reduces emissions would be right up your alley. In sum, you'll be much more successful if you have a passion for the product you're involved with. 2. Look for a Hot Market. A large part of finding the right business opportunity is understanding market forces. What drives people to spend money? What are the issues that people care about? Do those issues relate to the product or service you're considering? Using the above example, the environment and global warming are issues that have reached critical mass, in part because of greater awareness and in part because of near-record fuel prices. Therefore, a product that helps fuel efficiency and reduces emissions would be welcomed by virtually everyone. If you find a business opportunity that you feel instinctively is coming to the right place at the right time, chances are you've found a winner. 3. Look for a Global Reach. The best home-based business opportunities are well established, yet still have room to grow. A solid business opportunity will have distributors in well over 100 countries, but isn't so saturated with distributors that the hunger in the marketplace has been sated. The company you join should still be in its expansion phase, giving you the opportunity to earn a significant weekly income. 4. Follow the Marketing. When selecting a business opportunity, find one that already has a solid marketing plan. The company's marketing may include Internet marketing, an infomercial, replicated websites, or any number of other strategies, but the bottom line is that the company should put as much or more effort into marketing as the distributors. If, for example, you've seen a company's infomercial on television networks and cable, you know that it's committed to marketing. 5. Examine the Numbers. It's crucial that you know the compensation plan before you sign on to any business opportunity. Better yet, you should be able to access the actual results achieved by the company's distributors. This ensures that you have an accurate estimate of your earning potential. Whichever home-based business opportunity you choose, make sure it's one that is timely, that dovetails with your interests, and that is on an upward swing. After that, it's up to you to make the most of it and to fulfill your financial dreams.

Profiting from the weird and wacky
eBay has become infamous for weird and wacky auctions. In this article, we will look at some of the zaniest and then discuss the practical lesson we can take away. First, let's stimulate some ideas and look at some crazy listings: In late 2004, Mary Anderson used eBay to sell her father's ghost. Her father had recently died and Mary's young son Colin was afraid that his grandfather's ghost was haunting their house. When it got to the point that Colin could no longer sleep at night and to allay her son's fears, Mary decided to auction the ghost off on eBay. As eBay requires you to sell something physical, the high bidder would receive her father's old cane as well as the ‘ghost'. She stipulated in the listing that the winning bidder would have to write her son and reassure him that his grandfather's ghost was safe and well. There were 132 bids in the auction and the winning bidder paid a final price of $65'000 (Goldenpalace was the high bidder they are an online casino that has achieved notoriety for their wacky eBay purchases). Mary has said that she will put the money in a college fund for Colin, who is presumably much happier now that the ‘ghost' has moved house. In June 2005, the wife of Tim Shaw, a well-known British radio DJ, sold her husband's $50'000 Lotus Esprit sports car on eBay with a Buy It Now price of 50 pence ($1) while Shaw was still in the studio. Mrs Shaw heard him flirting with model Jodie Marsh on air, when he said he would leave his wife and two children for the model. Shaw's wife said it was the ‘final straw' and immediately listed the sports car (which he had been daft enough to buy in her name) on eBay for 50 pence, with the only stipulation being that the buyer would have to collect the car within ‘the next two to three hours before my husband gets home to find it gone and all his belongings in the street.' The car sold within 5 minutes and was collected the same day. A 19-year old man from England sold a single cornflake on eBay for one pound and twenty pence (approx $2.50). He listed the cornflake on the site as ‘an experiment'. At first there were no bids, but within a couple of days someone had offered a penny and the bids increased until he finally sold it for one pound twenty. Apparently he received some very interesting enquiries about the cornflake: one bidder asked if it would mate safely with a Sugar Puff, while another asked if it would be sociable if it was dropped in a fish tank. A man from Arizona sold an air guitar (an imaginary guitar) on eBay for $5.50! In February 2007, after Britney Spears shaved off all her hair, the salon she visited put the hair up for auction on eBay, as well as ѕ of a can of Red Bull she had drunk from and a blue Bic lighter she had used. The listing reached $1 million before it was removed by eBay amidst some controversy. Water that was said to have been left in a cup Elvis Presley drank from during a 1977 concert was sold for $455. A man from Brisbane, Australia attempted to sell neighboring New Zealand at a starting price of $0.01 AUD. Amazingly, the price had risen to $3'000 before eBay removed the listing. In 2004, a scorned Seattle man listed his ex-wife's wedding dress on eBay. The site attracted a boatload of viewers and bidders as the man himself modeled the dress for the photos. The dress had a starting price of $1 and finally sold for $3'850. In 2000, a very enterprising seller tried to sell his soul on eBay. Unfortunately, as eBay requires a physical product to be delivered to the buyer and souls are a bit tricky to pack and ship, the listing was removed. One of the most famous weird listings ever to grace eBay was the sale of the virgin Mary on a toasted cheese sandwich. Ten years prior to listing the sandwich, Diana Duyser of Miami apparently made the toasted sandwich for herself, only to see a vaguely familiar face staring up at her. She kept the cheese sandwich in her bedside cabinet for ten years before deciding to sell it on eBay. Despite the length of time, at the time of its sale the sandwich had yet to show a single spore of mold (allegedly!) What do all these weird and wacky listings have in common? They ALL attracted a LOT of attention. And in a market where everyone is competing for attention, that's a big deal. Your listing might have the perfect title, a flawless description, and a beautiful photograph, but as soon as you add that extra ‘something' that creates a stir, you instantly make it (and your business) stand out from the crowd. And the bids start rolling in. So how can you attract more attention to your listings on an everyday level? As a general rule, whatever everyone else is doing, do the opposite. There's nothing to be gained from making your listings carbon copies of everyone else's. Look for a hook, something that makes you unique and a bit different to everyone else, something that will grab the interest of the buyer. You don't even have to do this with every listing create just one listing that is weird or wacky, and then cross-promote your store and other relevant products within that listing. Just attracting attention to one listing can be enough to get the ball rolling. Of course, it's preferable if your ‘wacky' listing has something in common with the other products or services you sell. Suppose that the salon that sold Britney Spears' hair had cross-promoted a range of hair products. People love to have a story behind something they buy, and if something they buy from you comes with a ready made story they can share with friends, they are that much more likely to make the purchase. Be alert to look for a hook in your listings - something that shouts out as being different and then make sure you cross-promote your related products and eBay store to attract as many buyers as possible. Try it, it works!

How to bring originality to your business ideas
If you are immersed in the world of internet marketing, you have probably heard many times the advice: don’t re-invent the wheel, follow someone successful. But simply copying a business idea is sloppy and might not get you the results you are dreaming about, just because it has been done already in that way. So how can you add a zesty twist to your business idea? Many people use the excellent technique of brainstorming. You simply write down, without editing, all the business ideas you can think of. Remember, you shouldn’t judge any idea at this point. The best place to start, of course, is to think of business ideas relating to your interests and passions, things you know quite a lot about or are passionate about learning more about. Anything can work: pet care, model airplanes, car accessories, home decorating, knitting… But identifying your passions and interests is only the very first step toward a great business idea. Let’s face it, many people have cats, for example and learn about the best food for their cat or all about the best product for eliminating tics. So how can you come up with original business ideas on such a popular topic? For your first business idea, try to stick with things you have experienced. Do you have a special tip to share with people? Something you learned while trying something new? Is there a life experience you can describe in detail and through it help others who are going through the same experience as well? The point is that you will always have an original twist to your basic business idea, because no one has gone through any experience in the exact way you did, with the same emotions and lessons, conclusions and thoughts... You will always have something different and unique to say about something common, some small change to offer to an already existing system, a personal perspective on things that gives you something to offer. There lies your personal bank of business ideas. A first original business idea can help you establish yourself as a brand name in the field of your interest. But what about other topics? What about your next business ideas? Continue to brainstorm, using associations and questions. Associations can help you identify smaller markets, different ideas for complementing products, such as a series of books or a suite of programs, create related websites and much more beyond that. The sky is the limit, plain and simple! The questions you can ask yourself about a business idea are, for example: does such a product already exist? Can I improve on the same idea? Is there a concern of people who share my interests that has not been taken care of yet? Can I come up with a simple solution to a simple problem? Remember, someone may have come up with a business idea you are interested in already, but you can always look for a personal twist of your own to add and make it uniquely yours. Brainstorming is the key to that mind vault of business ideas each one of us has. You can brainstorm everywhere, by your desk or in a restaurant. All you need is a piece of paper or an open file. Most people would prefer peace and quiet for this exercise. You can write single words or complete sentences, draw pictures that relate to your business ideas or any other technique that will keep the idea clear later when you review it. Let your brain run, don’t hold back. When you are done, you will be surprised at how many new and unique business ideas you can collect from this list. Simply add your personal twist and you are on your way to fulfilling your dreams.

Why casinos need 24 hour day care
Recently in the news across the USA there have been several reports of parents leaving their children locked in their cars, while the parents sit in a casino and gamble. A great way to stop this from happening would be to legalize online gambling so that parents that can not afford a baby sitter will not do something as stupid as locking a small child in a car alone for several hours. Another solution would be for the casino industry to take responsibility of the people they lure in with promises of riches beyond belief. If the casinos all offered 24 hour free daycare for all casino players those parents who are so far gone in their addiction will not have to make the decision of what to do with their children, they can just take them to the casino and let them be watched after in the casinos daycare centers. As well as making sure children are not being neglected by their parents or legal guardians, the children in their care can be checked for signs of abuse and any parent that brings a child regularly to the casino can be talked to about gambling addiction. Please do not get me wrong I feel the parents should be the ones taking responsibility for their kids, but gambling addiction is a disease, and at least this would provide a way for the government to monitor parents gambling habits, and to provide them with help if they need it. Besides being the right move for the casinos to make for its own civic duty, it also makes good business sense. If the casinos offer such a service they also open themselves up to single parents that could use a little time for some adult fun, and by making the day care 24 hours a day there is no reason why a parent would leave their kid at home instead of at the casinos free daycare. The parents could relax and have a little fun with the knowledge that their kids are being taken good care of. This is not a new concept there are several casinos in Las Vegas that offer day care. These centers offer children of different ages fun things to do, such as all the popular videos, and games fro kids. This will appeal to people with kids. The parents get to gamble and have some adult fun and the kids get to do fun kid stuff. By doing this the casinos will get more business and they are doing the responsible thing for their customers with gambling problems. I understand that the casinos are a business, but they should make sure that some of their less responsible gamblers do not put their children's lives in danger just to make an extra few dollars in a multi billion dollar a year industry If enough people recommend this to their local casinos and state officials, casinos could be required by law to provide child care when they are open.

Rotary tables and rotary stages
A rotary table is designed to be used in conjunction with vertical mills. When a rotary table is put on a vertical mill what you create is a machine that is theoretically capable of reproducing itself. A standard milling machine set-up usually involves aligning the work with the table and then with the spindle. The table can be accurately moved with the hand wheels making this a simple operation for most. Aligning a part on a rotary table however can be difficult because the work has to be clamped into position. This is not always easy when you are working alone. Most experts suggest that you start by doing the rotary table work first which can eliminate the need for precision aligning. Aligning the milling spindle with the rotary table can be done by indicating the hole in the center of the rotary table. You then need to spot drill the center on the work you wish to have line up with the rotary table. Finally put a pointer in the spindle that is accurate. After doing this set the work under the spindle and lower the head until it engages with the center mark at this point clamp the part down. And there you have it, locked and ready to work with. Rotary stages are used in industrial robots, fiber optics and photonics, vision systems, machine tools, assembly, semiconductor equipment, medical component laser machining, electronic manufacturing, and other high-performance industrial automation applications. Rotary stages provide the best angular positioning and velocity control. Applications range from indexing to high-speed laser machining to precision wafer inspection. All of these applications are fine tuned to the best numbers possible using rotary stages. There are several types of rotary stages at this point in the game however the ones getting the most press are the laser guided rotary stages. Utilizing lasers helps create the most absolute positioning to date. Some of the newer rotary stages are ideal for applications that require X, Y and q degrees of movement for ambient and high vacuum environments. They tend to feature high resolution, high stability as well as being available for ambient and high vacuum environments. Experts also agree that having the choice of lateral and rotational degrees of freedom also lends that extra precision that is needed in delicate jobs as well as the strength for larger projects.

How to make more by working less
Copyright 2006 Donna Gunter Thanksgiving rolled around last year and I decided that I needed a break, so I decided to pay a visit to southern California. I've been entertaining this fantasy for the last few months that I'd like to move there in a couple of years, as I'm a big fan of sunshine and warm (not hot) weather. I discovered, much to my dismay, that not only does it get chilly in the San Diego area, but it had snowed in the mountains just prior to my arrival. For the most part, however, I was able to hang out in slacks and short sleeves and managed to avoid wearing any winter clothing while there. Every time I go on vacation, I am challenged about whether or not to bring my laptop with me to check email and/or do a little work. On this trip, I brought my laptop under the rationalized guise that I needed it to look up the different tourist destinations I wanted to visit, and having my laptop along would let me get online to view this info, if I so desired. In the back of my mind, however, I had also planned to check and respond to any email as well as continue to refine my strategic plan for the upcoming year. Well, I amazed myself on this trip, and I can credit my hotel for this. I never even took my laptop out of its case! My hotel didn't make it easy for me to plug the laptop into a phone line while also having access to an electrical plug, and since getting online would have required me to rearrange my room somewhat, I was just simply to lazy to be bothered to do it. I was initially a little annoyed at this inconvenience, but then began to think of it as a gift. I can't tell you the last time when I've been disconnected from a computer and online access for 5 days in a row--that's a personal record for me! Amazingly enough, I didn't even suffer any withdrawal symptoms! In the weeks prior to my departure, I had been struggling with some ideas about restructuring my business and combine all of my business under one roof. I had been racking my brain about how to do both without driving myself insane and was only succeeding in giving myself a headache. When I'm at the point of being stuck or feeling overwhelmed, I won't cut myself any slack and take a long or extended break. Instead I continue to plug away, becoming increasingly frustrated and stuck and not accomplishing anything, and then resenting the fact that I'm not taking any time off. Not a particularly productive way to be, is it? Intellectually, I know that to be true, but won't own up to that fact in the moment. During this trip, I had a pretty big breakthrough about this issue, and the answer came to me crystal clear during the week--on the plane, in fact. I discovered something that I'd always heard but had never found to be true for me until this profound occurrence. Are you ready....drum roll please......if you want to make more, you need to work less. That's the big secret. It was only my getting away and not thinking about my business that I found the clarity I needed to move forward. Had I given in to my inner work demons (and they were quite vocal before I left) that were trying to convince me not to go away but spend this "vacation week" doing all the stuff on my to-do list so I could catch up on all of my back-logged tasks, I believe I would still be beating my head against the wall trying to figure out how to move forward with my ideas that will help me grow and expand my business. I know that the extra "chi-ching" in my bank account is just around the corner. Try this principle of working less and see if you make more--I'll bet you'll find it as useful as I did.
