Collectible cookie jars as a home based business

I doubt there are any kids out there in this world, who do no like eating cookies. Dunking cookies in milk is synonymous with snacking and children. During my childhood, some fifty or so years ago, cookies meant the heavenly things that grandma used to bake every afternoon. Today, when time is of paramount importance, cookies are usually found in grocery stores, ready to eat. Collectible Cookie Jars Today During my days, cookies were baked and if any were left (which was extremely rare) were stored in beautiful large, transparent, glass cookie jars. After my grandmother’s demise, the cookie jars almost disappeared from our kitchen shelves. What replaced them were ready-made cookie jars of all shapes and sizes. One day, when my mother was doing her spring-cleaning of the kitchen, we put together some 50-cookie jars of all shapes and sizes, which had been collected inadvertently over the last several years. The pile of these jars was meant to be sent for recycling; instead, they became my collection of collectible cookie jars. Instantly I had a ready-made collection of 50 plus collectible cookie jars which made me feel very happy. After this incident, wherever I would see a cookie jar, I would ask for it to be part of my collection. Very soon, my friends and relatives were contributing on an average of two to five cookie jars per month. In this way, my collection overgrew the space I had for it in my room, and my dad offered to make a display case for my collectible cookie jars in the garage, to which I happily agreed. By the end of the year, the display case was holding 387 collectible cookie jars of all shapes, sizes and material. I had plastic, metal, tin, wood, cardboard and paper cookie jars – and the display was awesome. My fame spread through my school and the neighborhood and soon enough I had people coming to see my collection and admire it. One day, a friend of mine wanted a gift box for a birthday party – she thought that one of my collectible cookie jars would make a wonderful packing for her gift. She paid me $3 for a round, lovely metal box. In no time, I had people buying jars from me for all occasions. In this manner, I was making an average of $100 per week with the sale of my cookie jars, which gave me an idea – why not start a small gift box unit and make custom-made gift boxes? With a little help and investment, I put together a tiny unit for this purpose and in six months, I was earning real money. This is how my hobby turned into a money-spinner. Isn’t it great how things work out?

Autoresponders an online university

One of the ways I process marketing ideas is to visit as many sites as possible. By doing this I get to see some of the best and worst in online marketing. Recently I discovered a unique way to use autoresponders. The premise is brilliant in execution, successful in gaining membership, but somewhat vague in overall information. The site owner purchased a second web address that spoke to one facet of their online business. This information was knowledge based and executed much like a visual teaser to a really good movie. Applicable questions were asked and bullet points were added to let visitors know some of the things they could learn from this company. Interestingly there was no link on this secondary website to indicate who the company was or how to contact them. The only contact information was a sign up form for a free five-part ecourse. The site featured an almost university type design leaving the visitor feeling as if the information would be quality and worth their time. It was emphasized that the email information would never be sold or shared with a third party. The added touch was noting that the course started today. For most online users there may not be an understanding of how autoresponders work, so there is a sense of urgency in filling out the form so they can take advantage of the ecourse before it was too late although the website will always indicate the start date as today, which is the beauty of the way autoresponders work. This site might not provide significant link or contact information in the first email, but they will provide quality content that will allow this opt-in ‘university student’ to keep in the loop. Sooner or later the contact information, and primary website, is revealed and supplementary products or services are offered to help the student take full advantage of the information they have taken in through the Autoresponder University. Essentially what this site has done is maximized Search Engine Optimization (SEO) strategies that ultimately allowed the site owner to lay claim to a highly specialized niche. The high ranking results in a more motivated knowledge consumer who already views high-ranking websites as more trustworthy. This consumer has a better chance at learning greater trust in the business as applicable knowledge based material is delivered by autoresponders. By the time these individuals finally gain access to the priamry site they are not only familiar with the product or service, they know how to use it and what common purposes the product or service may assist in. Autoresponders can be a perfect compliment to your marketing strategies. What creativity can you express in the use of this strategy?

The right golf shoes

Is playing golf a sport you truly love to do? A lot of people enjoy the leisure and exercise that the sport, golf offers. People spend numerous amounts of dollars on getting exclusive memberships to golf clubs and spend hours in selecting golf equipment. But only a few pay much attention to the kind of golf shoes they purchase. You have to consider the fact that the golf shoes you wear may affect the golf game you play and may affect your success as a golfer. You walk several miles and spend an average of three to five hours on your feet when you play golf. It is a sound decision to invest in a good pair of golf shoes not only to improve how you play the game but also to help reduce handicap problems. There are several guidelines you could follow when you intend to purchase a pair of golf shoes. It is of utmost importance that you wear the same socks you intend to use in playing golf when purchasing the golf shoes. Ensure that the socks are not too tight. You should provide an allowance, about half an inch from your toe to the edge of the shoes to give room for your toes to move. The shoes should be bendable when you tiptoe. You obtain most of the support when you swing from the middle portion of the shoe. It is essential that it is tight in this area compared to how you would feel when trying on ordinary shoes. You don’t have to worry about the tightness though, since your shoes will stretch after having been used several times. Make sure that you feel comfortable with the fit. If your golf shoes are too loose, your feet would tend to slide when you swing making you lose your stability. But a solution for a loose golf shoe would be insoles to make it a bit tighter. In selecting a shoe size, choose the size for your bigger foot. It is a fact that your feet are not exactly of the same size and that one would be slightly bigger than the other. You could always put an insole on the other shoe that is a little loose. Avoid purchasing golf shoes that are made of synthetic material for they won’t allow your feet to breathe making them smell. Leather would be a good choice since it easily adjusts to your feet giving more support. If you could afford the expensive water proof kinds it would also be a good choice especially when you play in muddy areas. I hope that with these guidelines you will be able to purchase the perfect pair of golf shoes for you.

If you are wondering who the 101 person is that would be the author, so anyways only 101 people are selling this e-book. Security data recovered

The world’s population put a lot of faith in their computers. This is as true for online businesses as for personal computing. But what happens when your computer crashes? Data Recovery The benefits of data that is backed up by one or more sources are incredible. However there are many businesses that do not backup their business data in a meaningful way. Should the computer suffer a major meltdown you may not be able to recover the data on your hard drive. The use of a zip drive is a quick way to backup data in a compressed environment. If your data is not extremely large you can always save it on a CD-ROM, re-writable disk or jump drive. This information should be stored in a location other than your business in the event of either a break in or fire. If your system does fail you will have a very recent update of your data that can be reimported when the system regains function. Inevitable Recovery Make sure to have phone numbers for technical support in a central location along with the software product, manuals and registration numbers you have for your computer. The reason this is important is in the event of computer failure you will need both assistance as well as a means of importing software for a quick recover. An Electric Onslaught Surge protectors are an inexpensive investment in the security of your computer. If an electrical surge is allowed to access your computer it is likely to cause significant issues with your hard drive. A surge protector works to prevent any problems with variations in power distribution. Who are you Again? Registering your software may not seem like the best use of your time. Many individuals fail to register their software product for fear they will be deluged with email offers. While this can happen, the truth is by registering your software products you will be alerted to any problems, fixes and upgrades that may be available. If you don’t register the product the company does not know to contact you regarding these issues. The Other Side of Security While most people think about computer security as the work of espionage and subterfuge this article is meant to show the practical side of making sure your computer works as efficiently as possible, but when it fails you now have some tools to help you recover much faster.

Finding honest internet business opportunities honest work from home is possible

There is a plethora of people offering ways to make money on the internet and some may even offer honest internet business opportunities with honest work from home projects. However, there are many more that are looking only to make money and once they have your fee to begin the business they may ignore you completely or simply disappear. Throughout the years there have been many companies using multi-level marketing to make money for themselves and a select few individuals and then disappear once they believe they have pulled all the money they can from an area. Prior to the use of the internet, these pyramid schemes, considered illegal in most states, simply looked to recruit individuals or couples into a potential scheme of having them recruit more people, recouping their initial investment by receiving a portion of the investment of those they were able to sign up. With the use of the internet this practice is still being used under many different names, but the concept remains the same. A person is recruited and they must pay a fee to become a distributor of something, whether it is vitamins or public domain software. While they can earn money from selling the product they are promised even more money if they can recruit others to also become distributors. With the focus on recruiting, very few sales are made and no profits are divided between you and the person you are able to recruit. With honest internet business opportunities honest work from home opportunities will not ask you to talk to relatives and friends to entice them into joining the business. Realistically, if everyone you know is selling the same product line, there will be no one left to whom to sell. An honest opportunity will be to offer a product or service that has high customer appeal and will garner repeat business. Consumable items such as vitamins, cleaning products or office supplies are items that people will always need and if the service and quality is acceptable will return for future dealings with the same company. Honest internet business opportunities, honest work from home projects will not ask for money up front for supplies. They may require a distributor fee for the right to use an established company name, along with their past reputation and possibly the technology in which the company has an investment. However, they should also provide a working telephone number if you have any questions. When they list names for testimonials they should also have no trouble in supply you a means of contacting them to verify their happiness with the company. There should be a lot of transparency in an honest internet opportunity and you will be able to learn exactly what you are getting for the initial investment. They company should be proud of their product and willing to share information with you if they are offering an honest work from home opportunity.

6 Keys to a successful internet business

1) Demand-- Lets say for instance, that you have a really amazing product, and a website that looks like a million dollars--but what if you have no demand for your product? Have you ever thought about starting an internet business? It could really be as simple as opening a Yahoo Store, or on the other end of the scale, as complicated as building your own, professional, dynamic, e-commerce website. Regardless of your approach to internet business, to ensure the success of your business, you need to know of, and apply the following 7 key points. In saying that, you aren't going to be left with a sword in a gun fight. In the online world, there are many ways to advertise and generate demand for your product. There are the choices and possibilities of advertising in Ezines, joint ventures, affiliate programs, referrals, and even as simple as encouraging word of mouth. Remember, without demand, what do you have? No sales. Where does a business without sales end up? 2) Order-- Its all well and good to have visitors to your website, but they don't do anything for us unless they become a customer. However, its not as easy as it first appears. Now, once your visitor has turned into a customer, you need to ensure that them becoming an actual customer, is as easy as possible. A straightforward and simple ordering process will do wonders for your business. Less clicks and less time it takes for a customer to complete his or her order, the better it is. 3) Payment-- If there was any part of your business that you would not want to get wrong, it would be this--how payment is actually being transferred between you and your customers. Generally, when taking into account online businesses, the most popular method is credit card transactions. Not only are they an easier and quicker method than most other forms of payment, but it also goes to a psychological level. Credit Cards exude a "buy-now, think-later" attitude. Taking this into account, as a business, you'd be making more profit and sales if you accepted credit cards. However, in saying that, it would also be a wise decision to use alternative methods of payment. After all, the easier it is for your customer to find ways to pay you for your product, you'll see a more efficient increase both in sales and customer numbers. 4) Fulfillment-- Now payment has been received from your customer, the path isn't clear just yet. This is a mistake often made by new businesses. Your products need to be delivered, remember! Generally, if you sell digital products, the industry standard is for the product to be delivered instantly; generally through a download link. Your customer expects this, so ensure this is in place. Physical products require more attention to detail; namely physical delivery. Ensure that your customer is informed every step of the waymunication is essential. If at all possible, send your customer a means of tracking the product through the course of its delivery. Feeling insecure is something your customer should never have to experience. 5) Service and Support-- A good and trusted business will always endevour to provide and utilise excellent customer service support. To a decent extent, your online business customer support will determine whether or not you get repeat purchases, or if your customer requests a refund. The support abilities of your internet business should be efficient as possible; after all, this is the industry standard. At the least, a well-structured and timely e-mail support service should be available to the customer. The more professional your online business becomes, so should your support methods. More advanced methods such as utilising online helpdesks, FAQs, live chats, a ticket system, a knowledge base, will help greatly; these are just examples, there are more support methods out there which you can use. 6) Security-- The internet business world is filled with people who are honest, trustworthy, and are willing to do everything to help the customer. But, on the other hand, the opposite is also very true. And as such, the internet community at large are getting more aware of ways to protect themselves from the internets less desirable people and activities. Namely, E-commerce frauds. Because of this, it is up to you and your business to ensure that your visitors are protected, and to prove to them that they can trust you. Simple things, such as using a secured server to process your payments, can help more than is seen on the surface. A digital certificate can also help your business, so purchase one if you can. Physical mailing addresses, and even a phone number where your customers can contact you. Whatever you can do to provide your customers with some piece of mind. Well there you have it! Utilising and practising these 6 keys will not only help your online business grow, but will also ensure your customers are happy, too!

The careful art of outsourcing

The concept of outsourcing jobs is not entirely new though it has undergone a high degree of innovation and evolved into a global phenomenon. Briefly, outsourcing knows no limits and in today's context it may not be an overstatement if we say that outsourcing in several developed countries of the world can now be classified in an A to Z Directory! This admirable "employment generator" has brought the business world much closer though there may be quite some negative thoughts on outsourcing from several quarters. However, the snowball effect of outsourcing is now so popular that nearly every business is utilizing the benefits of cheaper or better stated "lower overhead" job distribution and delegation of tasks to freelancers around the world. It is time now to also consider how outsourcing should take place and what we need to reflect upon to make it a success. This is the careful art of "outsourcing" that must be converted to some extent into a "science" as well! Is Outsourcing a Drain on National Job Opportunities? Well, it can still be a million dollar question! However, a simple answer to this query is no. There are two reasons for outsourcing projects. One is when there is no local or national expertise on a topic or service and the other reason for outsourcing is the economics of the project. In the latter case it is wise to think of the good deed one may be doing since it is indirectly related to employment generation. Outsourcing should only be considered when there is no fear of security or information "leak out". The most relevant fields where outsourcing of projects does not cause any harm is writing, data entry, web designing, software innovations, net marketing in a global sense (here the concept is more of remote agencies working for the benefit of the company - just like in the case of affiliate business) etc. Ponder before you Outsource! The two contrasting axioms one must carefully ponder upon are: "Two heads are better than one" Or "Too many cooks spoil the broth" To derive the most benefit out of any enterprise or job one needs more inputs and here the first axiom certainly has an impact. Global exposure is the name of the game today and many companies or organizations striving towards an international input or presence. Outsourcing therefore helps in achieving this objective. The second idiom can also be true if the outsourcing is carried out in a haphazard manner or due consideration, investigation, or background not collected prior to allocating jobs and projects. It is also quite confusing if one depends on too many sources for a job - for example, too many writers contributing to a single project can throw the impact completely out of gear! Whenever a need arises to outsource a job or project beyond national frontiers it is better to choose an agency that can really amalgamate and understand the job. Careful gathering of information and capabilities will go a long way in achieving that perfect "outsourcing" principle. With the advent of Internet - The world is small! There was a time when we could not outsource small jobs or medium size projects to expertise available at more affordable cost around the world. Only collaborations with their accompanying costs could be executed and everything took a longer time to complete. Today the situation is entirely different and we are in a position to minimize the turn around time for better realization. One must therefore consider "outsourcing" as an executive assistance rather than a job snatcher! This "Careful Art" aims at completing tasks in the best possible manner and in the minimum period for efficient time management. Outsourcing is a concept that assists you in quickly completing your tasks and need not always be cheaper than local bidding - though it generally is! It is better to research the credentials of the agency prior to outsourcing - lest you be caught on the wrong foot!

The role of copyediting and proofreading on the internet

A website is the most important marketing tool for many businesses these days. It is often the first point of contact for a prospective client, who could well make a decision about whether or not to use your services based on a ten second first impression of the look and feel of the home page. It is therefore crucial that those ten seconds convey a professional, polished image. The design can be slick or simple, flash or static – whatever suits the style and budget of your business. The effect of the design is a mood thing and conveys a message on an emotional level . Your prospective client's eye and intellect, however, is focussed on the text. The text must fit the image you are trying to convey, but above all it must be correct and easy to make sense of. A professional image, painstakingly built up with slick design, can be blown out of the water by one misspelling or grammatical error. A tortuous phrase can leave your prospective client bewildered or send them running for the hills. Using a spell-check program can weed out basic spelling mistakes and typos, but leaves many of the commonly confused words glaring out at you. If you are proofreading your own website check for the following: its and it's; there and their: are and our. Be consistent. If you use a Capital letter within a sentence in one place, be sure to use Capital letters in every other place where that particular word is used. If you write a number out as 'six', don't let a whole bunch of 2s and 5s cause chaos, they must be twos and fives in this context to match that six! If you are unsure about your use of written language, consider having your website professionally proofread or copyedited. A good proofreader will iron out all spelling and grammatical errors. A copyeditor will also make suggestions about improving the style and flow of the text, will check that links are functional, will check facts, names and dates, verify quotes and generally save you from getting egg on your face. Whichever service you choose should ensure that your text looks polished and professional. A specialist website proofreader and copyeditor will also check links for you. This is something you can do yourself though, if you have time. Be meticulous going through each and every link to ensure that it is functional and that it connects to the information that you intended it to. Look out for misspelt urls. There are lots of advertising sites out there that take a well known website's address, change it by one letter or dash and hope to get traffic from misspelt urls searching for the genuine site. You don't want to send your potential clients off on a wild goose chase around the internet, so make sure you know where you are sending them. Re-check those links on a regular basis, every few months or so, as dead links leave your website looking out of date and uncared for. Your website should have content added on a regular basis, to keep it fresh for clients, but also to keep the search engines noticing it. One useful way to do this is to write articles every couple of weeks and add them to your website. Again a good relationship with your proofreader and copyeditor will help you to maintain a high level of accuracy and readability, so that your website always looks attractive and professional on every page. Select the right credit card before the holiday spending season begins

With the holiday spending season just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about strategies for not overspending. Ideally, you’d like to be able to get through to the end of the year buying as little as possible on credit. The average family ends the holiday season having spent between $1,000 to $1,500. Since most people don't plan on the expense of their giving, those holiday costs are typically racked up on credit cards, making your new year miserable with money concerns and busted budgets. If you begin saving a small amount monthly in January, you won’t be tempted to dip into your credit cards. Contributing $100 a month to a Holiday Spending Account will help you save $1200 annually (not including accrued interest). Even though we’re months away from the holiday season, setting aside $100 to $250 for the next few months will give you a bit of relief from your credit cards come December. So start your Holiday Spending Account today. If you don’t end up using it this year, at least it will be in place for the following holiday season. If you are tempted to buy on credit in addition to starting a Holiday Spending Account you should find the credit card that’s right for you. With the large number of credit cards available today, finding the best credit card can be overwhelming. Below is a four step process to guide you in selecting the right cards for you. STEP ONE: Define your objectives. Do you want to lower an interest rate on an existing card? Do you need to keep your business expenses separate from your personal expenses? Clearly define your objectives before moving on to step two. STEP TWO: Know the different types of cards. While Credit cards are separated into seven different categories, we’ll focus on the following: • Regular Credit Cards: These are the traditional credit cards. They give you a specific credit limit based on your financial history and then charge you an annual percentage rate on your outstanding balance. • Rewards Cards: A Regular Card with "bells and whistles". As an incentive to use the card, you are provided certain rewards depending on how much you charge. These rewards can range from a cash rebate to air travel rewards or benefits at particular retailers. There are many variations and combinations available. • Business Cards: For business owners and sometimes employees. These are good if you need to separate business from personal expenses. They are basically a Regular card but may also have Rewards features. STEP THREE: Know the terms of your current cards. If you’ve owned the same card for a while, you’d probably be surprised at how many of the details you’ve forgotten about your card. If you already own credit cards, take a look at the details to see if you can improve in any of the following areas. - Annual Percentage Rate (APR) on purchases and cash advances - annual fee - balance method used for calculating the finance charge - are there rewards? Get all the details, then start comparing your existing cards to the alternatives. STEP FOUR: Choose a card. Now that you know what your objectives are and are familiar with the terms of your current credit as well as the different types of, you are ready to find the best credit card. As a general rule, how often you pay your bills will have a major influence on the type of card you may want to choose. In short, if you carry a balance, consider a credit card with a low APR. If you’re a business owner, you should consider a business card to keep business transactions separate from personal transactions. Take time this week to review your current credit cards and last year’s holiday spending habits. A little time can save you money and help you begin the New Year in style.

Online shopping sales

Some people might get an advertisement about online shopping sales with their credit card statements but they are camouflaged to look like normal ads. There is always a telephone number provided so that people can phone in their order, but if they want to look at the product up close and at every angle, the advertisement will probably have a web address printed on it that will list these online shopping sales that are being offered. The paper advertisement might be part of the weekly newspaper circular that advises the public of the online shopping sales of favorite mass merchandising chains. What people do not realize is that there are extra bonuses to be found through the online shopping sales that they would not be given if they walked in the door of the same mass merchandising chain that is just down the street from them. Most people will let an online retailer know if they are interested in receiving updates of the online shopping sales at their particular retail site. There are rules for sending out sales offers through internet mail and many people deplore the spam tactics that some retailer use to market the things that they say are online shopping sales. The ones that send information that is already requested are following the rules and feature online shopping sales that are perfectly fine. People might visit the stores in person and know that the sale prices are typically dressed up prices and not actual discounts that they want people to think they are. They might have visited online retailers who sell the same things but at prices that are a lot lower than they found in the brick and mortar type stores. The online shopping sales are usually lower than anywhere else because retail shops have lower overhead on retail sites that they establish using the internet framework. There are no rules for using double coupons on the internet. Customers can enjoy the low prices offered on the online shopping sales as a discount and turn around and still use a code for up to 10, 20 or 50 percent off the amazingly low sale price that is offered. People sometimes are able to double their great buys and stock up on things that their families use everyday. Knowing where to look for online coupon codes is part of the fun of shopping online. The internet contains a lot of information and quite a bit of it pertains to online shopping and saving people money by posting various online shopping sales and discounts that people can not get anywhere else. Picking and choosing between the bargains found through internet retailers is another benefit of the online shopping sales that are not advertised.

Seo finding quality link partners

Linking with quality partners is one way of practicing SEO as it can help boost your rankings in the search engines. Link popularity is a factor that many search engines use when ranking web pages within their indexes. Nineteen of the top twenty search engines currently look for this when ranking sites for their search engine pages. Whine it comes to linking, quantity has been important in the past but the recent trend is for the search engine to consider the quality of the links. The most expedient way to get expedient links is to link yourself to popular directories such as the Open Directory Project, which is considered high quality because it is edited by humans and not search engine spiders. Once Google and Lycos sees you listed in this site they usually add you and boost your ranking. It also hopes to look for partners whose products or services have something to do with what you are selling. For instance if you have a site selling search engine optimization software you might want to link up with a site selling an easy ezine or article submitter as the two products compliment each either. However the important thing is to choose a partner that is not going to imitate you or grow into selling the same products that you are. When you look for such sites look for quality, highly ranked, non-competing sites that have plenty of working links or resource pages. Even better, many of the links on their pages may be a valuable resource when it comes to finding links that also suit your site. The best way to ask for a link from a big site is to add their link first to show that you intend to work with them in good faith and then ask them if they would like to trade links with you. You can always remove it if they decide to be nasty and say no which is more common than ever with some of the larger sites.

Web hosting for e commerce sites

If you’re going to pursue an e-commerce site, hosting is going to be an issue. Here’s a primer on web hosting for your site. E-commerce web hosting is the technology of storing, servicing and maintaining files for one or more web sites selling products or services online. Web site owners who pay for a web host (generally on a monthly basis) upload their web pages to a shared or dedicated web server through an ISP (internet service provider). The web host should ensure a fast and consistent connection. Experienced web entrepreneurs desire flexibility, security and high performance from an e-commerce host. An e-commerce web server also stores information, images, videos and just about any other content that can be retrieved from a web site. Security is a priority for e-commerce web servers. E-commerce web hosting can be divided into two major components, the site and the host (where the site is stored for access on the web). Web hosts are computers that offer storage space and Internet connectivity. Web hosts make your web site work with and connect to the Internet. E-commerce, or web commerce, allows people to buy goods and services online. On the Internet, one can buy almost anything, at any time. E-commerce web hosting must support e-commerce software. Often a web host will provide the tools that handle online transactions and sales. In other cases, the web business owner is on their own to ascertain e-commerce softwaremon tools that are provided with e-commerce web hosting are shopping carts, business account services, SSLs (secure socket layers), secure transactions, web promotion applications and advertisement packages. While choosing a web hosting company for your E-commerce business, it is helpful to decide how much data storage is required and the data transfer rates you require for your site. A web host is the physical location of a web site, so you must be confident in the connection and security of the hosting company. Doing some research to make sure that data reaches the end-user quickly and efficiently can payoff in a big way. Backup systems should be in place so that data is routed even if there is a router failure. Web hosts should be able to accommodate a client’s web traffic (measured in volume of data transfer) in peak hours as well. Security is a major issue for E-commerce transactions. Private information needs to be kept safe from unauthorized parties. SSL, from Netscape, helps a lot with secure transactions. SSL is an encryption technology that encodes a message that a receiver decrypts by using RSA security. For integrity and authentication of messages, digital signatures, or certificates, are required. Digital signatures ensure that sensitive information is not picked up by any other party, by posing as a legitimate e-business or in any other way. A digital certificate is a document, issued by a certificate authority, which recognizes a legitimate online business. To ensure security, many web companies store confidential information on offline disks or on a separate PC. E-commerce web hosts should also maintain multiple backups of vital information. SSL uses PKI (public key infrastructure) and digital certificates to ensue privacy and authentication. Bear in mind that security can be an expensive and complex business. In short, when selecting an e-commerce web host it is often best to look for a pre-packaged solution that allows you to create a shopping cart, an online catalog and a secure credit card transaction and storage system. Selecting an e-commerce web host with a broad range of tools and a solid reputation is an important step for just about any e-business.

Site promotion and the pickle man parable

Once upon a time there was a man who was encouraged to go into business selling the best pickles the people of his village had ever tasted. The man used the best brine and pickled the cucumbers in such a way as to delight the senses and exact repeat purchases. The village folk raved about the quality, texture and taste of his pickles and they often purchased an extra jar to share with friends traveling through the valley. “Pray, we have heard tell that the latest innovation in business is a component known as ‘Internet’. Thou shouldst consider the use of this newfangled invention to share the joy of your pickles,” one woman suggested to the pickle man. Indeed it was clear from the response of the local villagers that the pickles were worthy of a worldwide audience, so the pickle man put a humble site together and waited for the orders to come from all points of the valley and beyond. He worked diligently to make even more pickles to accommodate the assumed growth in pickle sales and was quite beside himself when the orders did not come. The pickle man checked statistics and it seemed that he was the only one who had even visited the site. This predicament was quite distressing and the pickle man began to think that perhaps the village people were wrong, perhaps what he had to offer was not something others considered quality. Despite the local sales the pickle man was about to give up and try his hand at either story telling or shoe cobbler. Thence came a man who was not from the valley. At the urging of many he crunched into one of the pickles and a surprised look overcame his face. “Why this is beyond my ability to describe,” he said in earnest. “The world should know about these pickles.” “Yes,” said the pickle man, “I have tried the Internet and no one has yet purchased a single jar.” “Pray tell, what hast thou done in the way of site promotion?” the man asked. “What?” Ah, yes it’s an age-old story isn’t it? So many people have great ideas, but they fail to do an effective job when it comes to letting others know of their ‘great idea’. So many websites languish in a world where the site is neither optimized for search engines nor has the owner done anything meaningful in the realm of site promotion. It doesn’t matter if you sell the best pickles on the planet or decorative windmills, if you can’t find a meaningful way to get your message out to the public the end result is a site that is rarely viewed and a product that simply gathers dust. If you created a consumer product you must also understand that you must also become a consumer advocate by not only letting the consumer know where to buy your product, but also why they should buy your product. Your business is never at greater risk than when you refuse to share your commitment and integrity in the product you sell.

Google index inclusion in 48 hours or less

Every web designer knows getting into the Google index is at the top of the priority list when launching a web-site, but some web designers find the process challenging, even tricky. The majority will probably agree the most effective type of traffic is search engine traffic. Google users, and other search engine users, depend on relevant search results to obtain the information they’re looking for - this type of traffic is the type almost all webmasters want. There’s an excellent chance that close to 70% of all web site’s traffic comes from Google or other search engines. Google usually does a good job delivering target results, so it’s probably safe to say Google is doing their job effectively. 1. Establish Backlinks, Backlinks, Backlinks This is relatively easy. Once your site is available and ready for launch, submit the main page to social networking sites. Here are a few to consider: Digg, delicious, sphinn, forums, dofollow blog comments, and any other social link sharing sites you may be a member of. If you’re a member of a discussion forum, add your site’s link to your member profile and signature. This is a great technique to get indexed because your site’s link is placed on every page you’ve posted to on that forum. If you already possess an established and indexed site in Google already, just throw up a link to your new site from the established site. Try to avoid site wide links if possible. Backlinks (without the rel="nofollow" tag) will present the new site and its pages to Google’s crawler - this is what we’re going for. This tells Google the site exists, and unless there’s a link to the new site on an already indexed site, Google’s bot has no way of knowing the new site exists. 2. Google Webmaster Tools Wants Your Sitemap Once signed up to Google’s Webmaster Tools, login and add a site to your dashboard. Verify that you’re the owner by adding the special meta tag or creating a file with the filename they provide. Now that Google knows you own that site, head over to XML-Sitemaps and follow the instructions on their site. Upload the uncompressed sitemap. xml file to your site’s root directory, for example: your-domain/sitemap. xml. Back to the webmaster tools dashboard, under sitemaps, click add to add a sitemap for your now hopefully verified site. Sit back and let Google examine your sitemap. Check back a few hours later to make sure there weren’t any errors. Providing a sitemap lets Google know your site exists, and which pages are important. 3. Continue Building Backlinks! Site directories are a great way to build one-way, permanent backlinks. There are hundreds of thousands of free directories available all over the Internet. Continuous, slow development of backlinks is very helpful to a site’s success. Once you’re indexed, adding backlinks will improve your chances of survival and increase traffic. Submit high quality stories or information to Digg, add them to your delicious bookmarks, even stumble your pages. The process is tedious, but until authority is established and people start naturally linking to your site, keep establishing backlinks - they can’t hurt your site. So that’s it. Sit back and wait. Hopefully Google’s bot will visit your site via the Digg submission, or a forum signature, and start grabbing the site’s content. If your server logs show the bot as a visitor, and the bot likes what was on the site, congratulations, you’re golden.

New franchise opportunity in phoenix market promises great profits

Local franchise broker, Kent Craven invested in a business himself that will make a lot of money, but more importantly, will be a lot of FUN for Kent and the future business owners he wants to help. In his business as a franchise broker for the Franchise Resource Company in Phoenix, Kent Craven helps people find and invest in franchise businesses that fit their lifestyle. But every once in a while, an opportunity comes along that he just has to invest in himself. That’s what he did when he bought the Phoenix franchise rights and became area developer for SportClips ( sportclips), a personal services franchise that offers a championship haircut experience for men and boys in an exciting sports environment. You see, Kent Craven really likes to have fun. He loves sports, he loves to make money, and he likes to help others. He gets to do all those with his new investment. “When I found out about SportClips, I just had to get in. First of all, I learned it’s one of the 50 fastest growing franchises in the county. It’s a really hot opportunity right now. It’s also enormously fun and a real blast,” Kent explained. SportClips is doing for men’s haircuts what Starbucks is doing for the cup of coffee - creating an entire experience around a core product. SportClips offers that experience around the haircut, with the old-fashioned steamed towel treatment, a relaxing scalp massage, neck and shoulder massages and expert stylists who also make professional haircare product recommendations. It’s called the signature MVP treatment and it only costs $20. And best part, guys get to watch sports on the big screen TVs at every stylist booth. Another aspect that drew Kent Craven to SportClips is the values-based corporate culture. “This company has enormous satisfaction in helping employees, or ‘team members,’ of the company. I like it because it’s a values-based company and there’s more than just lip service paid to the value statements. Part of the SportClips culture is to give away money to team members who can recite the mission and other values-related statements,” Kent says. Much of the company’s core values are about trust and commitment to excellence. SportClips borrows a great deal of their integrity-based messaging from the great Lou Holtz, best known as the football coach at Notre Dame. Kent is an expert in discovering the best of the best in franchising opportunities as owner of the Franchise Resource Company, a division of the nationwide FranNet. “FranNet associates are experts at putting the right person with the right opportunity,” Kent says. “I know what a good opportunity looks like, and SportClips is a good investment. I know that this is good.” As an area developer for SportClips, Kent is planning to sell 60 or so new franchises to about 12 other investors, or “Team Leaders,” in Maricopa County over the next year. Kent will also serve as the local liaison between investors and the corporate office, ensuring exceptional franchisee support to match the company values. These investors will get the opportunity to own a superior franchise with a solid local infrastructure. Kent is looking for Team Leaders who want to own more than one store, which is the standard business model in the franchise haircare industry. In the SportClips model, a franchisee can own and manage multiple stores while potentially keeping his or her day career. On Saturday, October 27, Kent Craven’s company will be running a SportClips open house for potential franchisee candidates. The open house will be at the Franchise Resource Company offices in Scottsdale. It’s gear-up time for SportClips in the Phoenix area right now. The company is running an exciting marketing campaign that promotes the fun aspects of SportClips. KTAR Sports 620 in Arizona, the broadcaster of major sports teams in the Arizona region, will be running many SportClips promotions. In addition, SportClips is sponsoring a road trip to the Cardinals training camp so clients and SportClips Team Members can get up close and personal with the Cardinal players. SportClips will also sponsor a road trip to the Phoenix Suns training camp for a private, intra-squad scrimmage on Saturday, October 6. Local stores are offering an enter-to-win contest for their clients and team members who want to go on the Suns road trip. To find out more about SportClips in Phoenix, contact Kent Craven at (602) 224-9333.

Seven dollar ebooks sweep the net

Once again, the internet marketing juggernaut is rolling out a totally brand new style of product. The difference is that this time it is a good thing as opposed to previous rollouts that were just a vain attempt to rip more money from unsuspecting consumers and at sky high prices. Traditionally, ebooks and information has sold online at what can only be described as ridiculous prices compared to an offline bookshop. We have seen innumerable ebooks priced at anywhere up to $127 and sometimes more. The bulk of the ebooks of course have been around the $27 mark, which is still outrageous compared to offline book prices. The reason for this in the past is mainly due to the high commissions being paid to affiliates in order to promote the ebook. An individual would write a book, but would have no chance of making much in the way of sales from a single web site. Consequently, they would recruit an army of affiliates by offering commissions of anywhere between 20% and 75%. This strategy always worked and an author could well end up with thousands of affiliates promoting the ebook on their websites and through mail outs to their lists. It was all a numbers game. The more affiliates and the bigger the lists, the greater the sales. I should also mention Clickbank here, where an author could list an ebook and it would be picked up by anyone with a Clickbank account as a product they wanted to promote. All this is now changed as a result of an innovative approach taken by Jon Leger. Jon is well known in internet marketing circles as a result of his fantastic Adsense tracking programs, but his $7 book concept has surpassed this by far and taken off like a rocket across the internet. When you purchase his ebook, $7 Secrets, you not only get an ebook chock full of useful information, but you also get the full resale rights to the ebook and all the scripts you need to do so. Talk about value! Already there has been a huge amount of new publications based on his concept using these scripts and it is fantastic to see the amount of information becoming available to ordinary, everyday people at an affordable price. If there was an award for internet innovator of the year, then my vote would certainly go to Jon. There have been several spinoffs already with a $7 Forum and many sites selling and promoting $7 ebooks. This whole new revolution in internet marketing and ebook production can only benefit ebook producers and ebook purchasers alike.

All i want for christmas how to pick products that will sell this season

With summer over and fall decidedly underway, if you haven’t started thinking about what you’re going to sell this holiday season, it’s high time you did. Holiday buyers are already going online, and you need to be sourcing seasonal trends so you can give your buyers exactly what they’re looking for. Thankfully, eBay makes the Market Research portion of your holiday product sourcing a snap with two very helpful resources: •The Holiday Hot List (pages. ebay/sellercentral/holidayhotlist/) •The Holiday Catalog (pages. ebay/catalog/) Holiday Hot List The holiday hot list gives you industry insider information—you’re getting an analyzed breakdown of all eBay’s own Market Research statistics. Enthuses eBay University instructor Janelle Elms (JanelleElms), “EBay has taken all the data from their category managers, and given you a list of exactly what items are going to be hot this year in all the different categories, from antiques to computers to toys.” Not only that, they give you the keywords that buyers have traditionally typed in to find those items. You need to pay special attention to those keywords because it does you no good to source all the right products and list them under terms no one is searching for. You can’t assume that you know what buyers are going to call things for a number of reasons: •People from various geographical areas give the same items completely different names. You may never have heard anyone from your area call your item by a certain name, but that might be the only thing people from another locale have ever called it. •People often type in very specific words or terms that you wouldn’t know unless you were an expert in that particular category. A buyer searching for Star Wars figurines may type in “ROTJ” for “Return of the Jedi.” But unless, besides being an online retailer, you’re also a Star Wars enthusiast, you wouldn’t know to include that term in your headline. Holiday Catalog The holiday catalog goes out to eBay’s top buyers, filled with buyer recommendations. However, it may prove even more useful to eBay’s smart sellers—what better way to get product sourcing ideas than to see what items eBay is promoting to their top buyers? Advises Elms, “Use eBay’s advertising dollars and go source the products that eBay is putting in front of buyers.” In addition to giving buyers ideas of what to look for this holiday season, eBay is also telling buyers how to find those products and making keyword suggestions. The recommendations are very specific: Shoei motorcycle helmets, Alpine Star motorcycle jackets, Under Amour shirts, etc. This is immensely helpful to you, as a seller, because it lets you know what keywords you need to be including in your titles. The holidays are your prime selling season, but you have to prepare and do your sourcing ahead of time. If you’re getting a late start this year, don’t despair. Take advantage of eBay’s holiday tools to see what you should be stocking up on and how you should be getting those items in front of buyers. With the right products and the right keywords, you’re putting yourself in position to capitalize on the biggest selling opportunity of the year.

Making money selling other people s products

A lot of people are now getting into online businesses and online marketing either to supplement their “real world” income or for it to become their primary source of income. Why? Because online marketing just provides them a lot of benefits! First, you can reach just about anybody in the world who has Internet access if you market your products online. That means a wider market for you, which can translate to larger profits. Second, setting up an online business requires only a fraction of the cost required to set up an actual business establishment, which means a lot of savings for the business owner. Another aspect that has attracted a lot of people towards online marketing is the fact that one doesn’t have to have his own products to get started. In online marketing, one can start making a lot of money just by selling, or even by just trying to sell, other people’s products. And getting started with this kind of marketing strategy is actually quite easy. All that one needs to do is to set up an agreement with an online retailer or merchant, and after everything is settled, one can immediately start making money by selling the merchant’s or the retailer’s products. Incidentally, the most popular and the fastest growing method of selling other people’s products online is affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing, in its simplest definition, is a relationship between an online merchant or retailer, who has products to sell, and his affiliates, who are willing to promote the merchant’s product on their website. In a typical affiliate marketing set up, the merchant provides his affiliates with banners and text ads that links to his site. The affiliates will then get these ads posted on their website and they get paid whenever traffic or sales is directed to the merchant’s website. Affiliates are often paid on commission basis, although other online merchants would opt to pay a fixed fee for the affiliate’s compensation. Starting to make money online with affiliate marketing is relatively quick and easy. All that one has to do is to sign up as an affiliate for an online company that offers affiliate programs. An alternative method, and usually an easier one, is to sign up as a member of an affiliate network—a network that hosts a variety of affiliate programs for different online merchants or retailers. Signing up is usually free, although other companies and networks may require you to pay a particular fee. Such fees, however, are made as payment for additional services that the company may render, like providing you with tools and assistance to jumpstart your online business. When you sign up with an affiliate marketing program, you are usually required to fill out a form containing information about yourself. Some affiliate programs may also require you to present the URL of your website and describe its contents. This will allow the retailers to verify that you actually have a website with contents that are relevant to their products. Some affiliate programs, however, won’t require you to have a website. After filling out the form and all, you are then allowed to choose the affiliate programs you want to promote. After signing up with an affiliate program and being an actual affiliate, you are now ready to start making a lot of money by selling other people’s product online. How do you make money? There are actually a number of ways for you to earn money as an affiliate, and most of these ways depends on the type of affiliate marketing program you’ve gotten into. Many affiliate marketing programs compensate their affiliates in either of three ways: pay-per-click (PPC), pay-per-sale (PPS), or pay-per-lead (PPL). In pay-per-click affiliate marketing, the affiliate is paid whenever he directs traffic to the merchant’s site. PPS and PPL affiliate marketing programs work rather differently. In PPS, the affiliate only gets paid when his referral converts into an actual sale. In typical PPS affiliate programs, the affiliate would usually get 15% to 20% commission for each conversion. PPL affiliate programs work the same way, although affiliates are paid a fixed fee whenever his referral converts into a lead for the company. Some affiliate marketing programs are two-tier programs, wherein the affiliate is also allowed to recommend other affiliates to the merchant. In such affiliate programs, the affiliate would not only be paid for the traffic or sales that he would direct to the merchant’s site but also for the traffic or sales directed by the affiliates who signed up with the program through his recommendation. Yet another way of earning more profits with affiliate marketing is through residual affiliate programs. Residual affiliate programs are affiliate programs where the affiliate gets paid a number of times for as long as the merchant keeps the customer the affiliate has referred to his site. One form of residual program gets the affiliate paid a commission every time the referred customer purchases something on the merchant’s site. Another form of residual affiliate program gets the affiliate paid a percentage every month for as long as the company keeps the referred customer. With a lot of options available and a lot of ways to earn money, affiliate marketing is undoubtedly the most popular and the easiest way to make money by selling other people’s products online. As to how much money one can get from affiliate marketing actually depends on the affiliate. A dedicated and hardworking affiliate would certainly get more from the program compared to those affiliates who would simply sign up and forget about the program later.
